Spooky Sprints Photos

Just a couple of quick shots and a little video from our Spooky Sprints in Winooski for Halloween 2014.  We put this on as part of a community event for kids in the area- there were pinatas, there was candy, a giant inflatable spider, and there were, for the first time ever in Chittenden County if not the whole state of Vermont, goldsprints races held on kid-size bikes with 16" wheels!

Fast is good, smiling is better!

I mounted a couple of these cheesy wheel lights I had kicking around on the race bikes' wheels, and it looked pretty cool:

Everybody had a really good time. We dialed the race distance down to 50 meters, to compensate for the small wheels and low gearing of the bikes.

Princess sprints!

It was a lot of fun and clearly something none of the kids had ever done or seen before.  There were a couple who must have raced a dozen times over the course of the evening, looking to best their previous time. (Shout out to Matt, don't know his last name but he gets a mention for muscling the chain off one of the bikes with his raw leg power, taking the fastest time of the night at a little over seven seconds, and the smoothest spin I've seen on anybody, ever! He'll be a force to be reckoned with at Mad Dashes in a couple of years.

All in all it was a great night, and I hope we are in Winooski again soon.
